How You Can Achieve Comfortable Photos

” I hate taking photos ” Jessica

” I never know what to do with my hands ” Tony

” I never know how to stand ” Frank

” I am never comfortable having photos done ” Sarah

We asked a few people in and around the studio what where their reasons for disliking having their photo taken, if any. If you are like me and not sure which is my good side or if you even have one you could be an individual who is not a fan of having a photo taken of yourself. Not sure why that is the case, a photographer is not a dentist grinding away at your teeth. No matter where you are from and where you are going there is someone around you that absolutely hates a camera turned at them. Although I am sure most of it has to do with wanted to look our best, it really can be dealt with fairly easily. It’s all in your head after all and can be made to go away and like anything else all it takes is communication.

We could be photographing children, families, a business portrait or a couple on their wedding day everyone needs to know what the game plan is. This is what we are doing. This is how we are going to do it. This is when we are going to be done by. Just so that everyone is on the same page we can reach our those goals together. But the real work is done before the actual session itself. In our first interaction with one another we go over all of the fears that you have and we know of all of them.

Before we get to our session you will feel lighter as we have let you know of our process. It is an on going discussion that we have with you as to where to stand and how. As for natural smiles, we can chalk that up to our wild and awesome sense of humor. But once you are comfortable and in the right frame of mind a knock knock joke would probably work. A person can have a fear of the unknown and that is a natural thing. But when you can be told of the steps to make the unknown more clear it is not an issue.

Our goal is to capture people in a very natural way. This is achieved with communication from the first step to the last, that way you can start to like having your photo taken. You will know which is your good side, even though they both are your good side. With a few simple words you will know how to stand and where with a better knowledge of where to put your hands. Communication makes for better and more natural photos of yourself so that we may be less feared than your dentist. But at least he gives you a toothbrush when you are done.
