Is Wedding Photography Important?
Recently we were in the middle of a discussion with a client and they asked us if we felt that wedding photography was important. In today’s ever changing world that we are just living through each selfie it looks as though wedding photography may not be that important. If you were to ask people aged 15-25 they may laugh at you if they actually look up form their smart phone. But it is a question that many of you may have and we have a very simple answer, yes it is. In many ways wedding photography is more important now then ever before.
Think for a moment to your grandparents and all of the photo albums they have or had. Some of you are now coming into possession of these photo albums, or as we like to call them family history. Images taken years and generations ago are now your family history. They are the only way in which you receive answers to the question of where did I come from. If you are like me you can visit people in multiple homes and not see on single image on the wall. It’s like we are all renting a hotel room and plan on leaving soon. So soon that we cannot put our family history on our own walls, let alone a book to pass along. Wedding Photography is important as is all types of photography, as long as it can be seen. Not just on our phones or online but within or hands or on our walls, proudly.
You cannot put a price on history, especially if it is your own. Images can tell the story when the voices are no longer there to tell them. It sounds simple and is fairly straight forward but many of use will lose our history at any time, if we decide to never get our images off our devices and make prints. Your family history starts on your wedding day if you believe it or not. Think about 3-4 generations from now, when they start the family tree it’s the spouses that appear on each branch. Almost as though everything before that day didn’t count.
The importance of wedding photography is within you and we all look at it differently. Wedding photography is important to you if you choose it to be. If you feel as though the beginning of your family history is important then you have answered your own question. If not there will be a silhouette where your smiling face should be on a family tree in the year 2525. Hope that helps you make the decision as to if wedding photography is important or not.
