How did the two of you meet?
It all started with seeing each other at a place in which I, Alexandrina, used to always say that I would NEVER take any man in there seriously. I really swallowed my words that year! Every Saturday night we would go to club District in downtown Toronto. We came to learn that we had mutual friends and we would see each other but nothing ever came of our encounters. After a couple of months of persistence on Rui’s behalf because I was very skeptical, we exchanged numbers and went on our first date. Surprisingly, it turned out that he wasn’t that bad of a guy (lol)…In fact, that was the beginning of our incredible relationship.
How long have you been together ?
We have been happily in love for a little over 5 years.
Tell us about your favorite date together.
Our favorite date together was dinner and drinks at 360 Degrees at the CN Tower for one of our anniversaries. After a romantic dinner, we went for a walk on the Habourfront with some Starbucks in hand. Perfection.
What is your favorite thing about one another?
My favorite thing about Rui Miguel is how he is down to earth, ‘go with the flow’, easy going and happy go-lucky! It is never a dull moment by his side; he always manages to make even the most dull of situations – fun! He’s always there for me when I need him and he is the most caring man I know.
My favorite thing about Alexandrina is her ability to console me when I am upset or feeling down. She always manages to make me laugh and brighten my day with her presence!She keeps us in balance with her intelligence, beautiful heart, generosity and beauty. Her love is unlimited and she is my better half.
How did he propose?
Rui proposed on Valentine’s day in 2010 in front of our immediate family. He did it the traditional way: he told my parents about his plans, got the whole family together, he got down on bended knee, recited some sweet words about me (which I barely remember because I was so overwhelmed with emotions) and asked me to marry him. And guess what? I said YES! And we sealed it with a kiss.
Rui and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our family and friends who have supported us throughout the years. You have always been there for us and our special day wouldn’t be the same without you all there by our side. We are so happy and excited about our new chapter in life together as a married couple. Thank you to our parents and siblings who have helped us tremendously and have given us everlasting love. And to our amazing bridal party: you have all shown us such friendship and support! A special thanks goes out to my sister and MOH who was there from the beginning and will always be there for us until the end of time. You are extraordinary; without you I wouldn’t have kept my sanity. I love you so much! Our Wedding Day was stunning and we will keep all the memories in our hearts forever. Thank you Chris Cabral for helping us capture those moments so we can cherish them forever through your photography. The best is yet to come but 20-08-11 is where it all began. We love you all!
